Our History

Beasley's Orchard began in 1946 when Milton and Irene Beasley purchased the farm. They raised livestock (hogs, cattle and chickens) and grain. The family which included three children, Shirley, Sharon and John, also enjoyed gardening and tending a small apple orchard.

One year, an over abundant garden prompted sales out of young John's little red wagon, which was set up next to the nearest road, US 36. Over the years, the family business evolved from that first sale of tomatoes! Crops that are now produced each year for wholesale and retail sales include: Apples, Tomatoes, Sweet Corn, Green Beans, Cucumbers, Peppers, Eggplant, Squash, Cantaloupe, Watermelon and Pumpkins. The barn that houses the market was built shortly after the Civil War using classic peg and beam construction. It has been used for every aspect of farming including: hay storage, dairying, pork and poultry production, horses and now a retail market, apple packing and cider mill.

Special features of the farm include the "Heartland Apple Festival" held the first two weekends in October and a U-pick pumpkin patch accessible by hayrides every weekend in October. Customized fruit baskets and shipping boxes are available throughout the holiday season.
