History:

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Shannon. She spent countless hours outside using her imagination. Like most young girls, she played house but… Her cats lived in a playhouse, and she would dress them up in baby clothes. Shannon would pretend to be a mom and feed her babies with bottles, but her babies had four legs and wagged their tail as the warm milk hit their tummies. She also spent hours running through the alfalfa fields, chasing butterflies.

Then this little girl grew up, went college and moved to the big city. She yearned for wide open spaces and the smell of fresh cut hay. She missed the warm feeling that spreads from head to toe when you nurture an animal. And, she really missed the feeling of accomplishment that comes from doing things yourself.

That’s why, when Shannon became a mother, she wanted her children to experience life’s simple pleasures. She wanted them to find pleasure in sunsets that paint the evening sky with rich hues of purple and magenta. She wanted them to appreciate wildflowers that splash color in a sea of green grass. She wanted the sun to kiss her children’s cheeks and gentle summer breezes to tickle the backs of their neck. She wanted her children to have a place where their imaginations could run wild, and that’s what started the idea for Enchanted Acres.

Enchanted Acres is a place where all families can escape reality for a few hours and simply enjoy spending time together in the great outdoors. It’s “that happy place” where kids, from 2 to 92, can channel Cinderella or Jack Sparrow. Enchanted Acres is a place where we all can dream about our happily ever after!
