About Us:

Jay, Amy, Blake and Claire Solsma live on a farm near Sanborn in  northwest Iowa. Jay raises corn, soybeans and Hereford cattle. In 2015 he started selling Beck's Hybrids Seed. Amy is a Jill of all trades working all kinds of jobs over the years. Her favorite is playing in the dirt and trying to kill weeds. Blake works on the farm with Jay and hauls grain in the off season. Claire is at Iowa State University studying Ag Communications and Political Science. She wants to be an advocate for the agricultural industry. She helps at the patch when she is home.

Why a punkin patch? Amy grew up on a farm by Newkirk, Iowa, and raised a few punkins. She and her sisters would set them out by the road and neighbors would pay a dime or quarter for each punkin. She set the money aside for college (it was a whole $12!) Fast forward many years to 1999 and Amy had her own children and thought it would be a good way to start a college fund for them. Almost 20 years and lots of additions have made the patch what it is today. Now we have acres of fall produce, corn maze, retail store featuring locally made items.

And now we have added fireworks! A friend suggested we should sell fireworks and we agreed. It took a few years to get it legalized but Iowa can sell now! We have quickly become pyromaniacs and love to talk and shoot fireworks!

Thank you to our customers! We couldn't do it without you!
