About Us:

The land that we are located on, Storybook Ranch, was established in 1887 as a working cattle ranch. At that time, it was spread out over 600 acres. Through the years, the Ranch has gotten smaller and smaller as development set in. The Shawnee Trail (trail of Tears) was where Custer road is now, which is the main road off of which we are located. Indians and settlers traveled the heavily wooded areas surrounding the ranch and were able to hunt and get their water from Rowlett Creek, which runs through the property still and never goes dry, even today.  Ironically, the original owner named the historic western town still located on property, Dry Bones, Texas.

Dry Bones is comprised of 15 authentic buildings from the 1840's to the 1860's. The buildings were brought in from various parts of Texas and the United States. Dry Bones is a great place for just about any event. From gunslingers shooting it out in the middle of the street, excellent chuck wagon dinners, live music and family reunions to company picnics, kid's parties and weddings at the Chapel, we can accommodate pretty much anything you can think of!
